Jankovics József (1949–2021)
The necrology bids farewell to József Jankovics (1949–2021). He was the vice president of the Institute of Literary Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the head of the Renaissance Department and for many years, as the secretary general of the International Hungarian Philological Society (later: International Association for Hungarian Studies) he organized the cooperation of hungarologists all over the world. He dedicated the majority of his life to science organizing, and the most memorable pieces of his philological work were the publication of Miklós Bethlen’s (1642–1716) letters and the publication of István Gyöngyösi’s (1629–1704) poetic works and letters. He studied old literature in parallel with reviewing contemporary literature.
