Monitoring of Cutting Process by Measuring of Cutting Forces and Momentum

This paper presents the possibility for measuring technological parameters at high speed machining. A sensor, based on tenzometric principle, for measuring of axial force and momentum has been developed. The sensor is incorporated in workpiece clamping device. Processing of results measured at different cutting parameters enables the estimation of full range of loads that motorspindle is subjected during actual machining. The paper also analysis the significance of measured data for selection of bearing type, same as calculation of bearing, stiffness and vibration of motorspindle.
