Design of Radial Hydrodynamic Bearing with Minimised Friction

In the design of radial bearings with hydrodynamic lubrication it is important to minimise friction by choosing the optimal clearance. By analysis of numerical data, the new expression is evaluated that perform determination of optimal clearance in relation to the predetermined working conditions. In the small bearings, the cooling by natural convection is usually used. Therefore, minimised friction result in minimised working temperature and prevent overheating of the bearing. Considerable energy savings are achieved in the large bearings minimising the capacity of forced cooling system.
