15th Men’s 19(18) European Handball Championship, QUALITATIVE ANALYSIS

The 15th Men’s 19(18) European Handball Championship took place in Croatia from 12 to 22 August 2021. The host of the Championship was Croatia, which took on the organization of the Championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As an experienced host of many competitions of this type, the Croatian Handball Federation proved to be a good organizer and the competition went without any major hitches. The matches were played in Koprivnica and Varaždin, at the same venues where Croatia hosted the 2018 championship, won by Sweden. Koprivnica is a true handball city, with a population of 35, 000 citizens. The Fran Galović Sports Hall, with the capacity of 2, 500 seats, is home to the HC Podravka Vegeta, which has won the title of European Champion and has been a regular participant of the Women’s Champions League. The baroque town of Varaždin is situated more to the North, 50 kilometers from Koprivnica. It is a handball center of North Croatia, and its Arena, with the capacity of 5, 000 seats, is home to the HC Varaždin.
