Ecofeminist voices from SE Europe
Environmental humanities are new trends in Western (US and European) academia and similar ideas could be settled in the Balkans/SE Europe, often understood as the edge, bridge or periphery of Europe. The paper deals with ecofeminism and feminist ecocriticism in the context of post-Yugoslavian countries and authors present ecofeminism in the SE Europe on the four level: a) academic and theoretical level which has been developed as part of curricula at universities and academic books and papers such as special issues of journals Kruh & ruže (Bread and roses) and Treća (The Third), edited and single author books published in Zagreb and Belgrade ; b) lifestyle that have been organized in ecofemist communities Gea Viva and Zemlja za nas (Earth for us) from Croatia ; c) political activism established in NGOs such as Žene iz Kruščice (Women from Kruščica) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Odbranimo reke Stare planine (Defend the Rivers of Stara Planina (Balkan Mountains) Movement) from Serbia, ako misliš na Branislavu udruga se zove Za živaliŽivali (Animals) from Slovenia ; d) media platforms such as portals and blogs “Ecofeminizam” and Aleksandra Žikić's blog in Serbia. The ecofeminist voices from SE Europe are rare with low number of participants but relevant for establishing new network of environmental humanities in the Balkans/SE Europe.
