Behaviour of lightweight built up cold-formed steel concrete composite beam in bending
Cold-formed steel-concrete composite systems are one of the most cost-effective floor systems in multi-storey buildings. Although European standards do not have standardised procedures for designing such structural elements, research results show their extremely favourable behaviour. The paper presents a numerical parametric study of the lightweight built-up cold-formed steel- concrete composite beam in bending. The analysed parameters are different types of connection between cold-formed C profiles and the impact of shear connection degree. Numerical analysis shows that the bending resistance of analysed beams mainly depends on the degree of the shear connection. Additionally, the different spacing of discrete connections between steel sections has a negligible influence on the behaviour of the analysed beams and their resistance to bending in comparison to the entirely tied solution. Accordingly, there is a minor influence of the types of connection between C profiles and a significant impact of the shear connection on the beam bending resistance.
