Narratives of Transitional Justice, Economic Violence and Organized Corruption During Transition - Where is the Western Balkan?
Without addressing economic violence there is no long term stability and prosperity. It took a while for international community to recognize this interconnection. Transitional justice policies and mechanism often disregarded this phenomenon that led to sometimes serious consequences including existence of organized corruption. This term is not introduced in order to add more confusion to white-collar crime reaseach, but to the contrary, to underline the importance of addressing corruption and violations of economic, social and cultural rights in transitional justice polices. This Chapter is therefore starting with description of traditional approach towards transitional justice that has shown to be flowed (Section 2), then continues with adressing violations of economic, social and cultural rights and economic crimes in application of transitional justice mechanisms (Section 3) and then continues with the Section (4.) on the situation in the Western Balkans described as “an unusual and extraordinary threat for the national security and foreign policy of the US” and with the notion of existence of organized crime in Western Balkan. In the Conclusion main points of this Chapter are underlined.
