Reconstruction after tumors and chronic wounds
Each one of us has met someone in our life who has struggled with some type of tumor or a chronic wound. After treatment, the majority of the patients lose their self-confidence because some part of their body is removed or ‘mutilated’. Reconstructive surgery is a surgical technique that reconstructs a removed or damaged part of the body. Nowadays, it is considered as a branch of cosmetic surgery, but in reality it is much more than that because it restores patients’ lost self- confidence and a healthy psyche, which is very important with today’s stressful lifestyle. Chief physician Zvonimir Puljiz is a specialist in general surgery and subspecialist in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University Hospital Center Sestre milosrdnice in Zagreb, Croatia. During his career he acquired knowledge in the field of melanoma, breast and hand surgery, chronic wounds, peripheral nerves, and other areas of plastic surgery.
