Earth Surface Potentials Measuring System "PCStep 2002"
High voltage installations need to have proper connection with the protective grounding system network for personnel security reasons. Safety requirements are initially satisfied after installing the grounding system for a first time. However, during longer periods of time, grounding system characteristics may degrade. In order to verify grounding system functionality and compliance with standards, periodical investigations need to be performed. PCStep2002 measuring system has been designed to overcome shortcomings of traditional manual approach in carrying out inspection procedure using the Heavy Current Injection method. Earth surface potentials measurements are now completely automatized what results in higher accuracy and repeatability as well as in significant decrease of overall inspection time and costs. The most important safety parameters are the values of Touch and Step voltages under fault conditions. For reliable measurements and estimations of these parameters, extensive measurements of surface potential map need to be conducted as well. That leads to two-stage measuring methodology which is fully supported by PCStep2002 system architecture.
