Visual function recovery in patient with arteritic form of anterior ischemic optic neuropathy due to pulse steroid therapy
Arteritic form of anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AAION) is presented with symptoms such as massive visual loss, headache, jaw claudication, accelerated erythrocyte sedimentation rate and elevated C- reactive protein. Temporal artery biopsy confirms the diagnosis. Authors present female patient with arteritic form of anterior ischemic optic neuropathy with visual function recovery after pulse steroid therapy. She underwent standard ophthalmological examination, Octopus perimetry, blood testing and CT scan of her brain and orbit. Temporal artery biopsy proved the diagnosis. She was treated with pulse steroid therapy which led to recovery of visual function.
