The Trauma of Communism – The Experience in Croatia – A Case Study: The Croatian Spring
The objective of this presentation is to show some important aspects of the Croatian History in second half of the 20th Century during communist regime in former Yugoslavia. The Author conceived the Presentation as a Case study, and the main intention is to point out some important cases in Croatian History, and to show some aspects of very important event known as Croatian Spring. Today marks 50 years (1971 - 2021) since those events ended up with changes in Croatia's political leadership, and had a serious impact on the entire sphere of political, economic and social life in Croatia in the later period until the 1990s. The author showed the role of the Catholic Church in Croatia in all these issues and events in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and especially highlighted the views of Franjo Kuharić (1919-2002), Archbishop of Zagreb (1970-1997).
