Design of experiments for photolytic and photocatalytic degradation of 5 pharmaceuticals

A categorical design of experiments investigating variables that might affect degradation constant rates of 5 contaminants of emerging concern in water was made. Each compound responded different to each treatment, with UVA+photocatalysis and UVC photolysis having the fastest degradation rates. Total organic carbon abatement was heavily influenced by the matrix and toxicity increased with UVA was used due to degradation products.
