Role of Receiving LNG Terminal in Natural Gas Supply in Croatia
Domestic natural gas production in Croatia covers around 50% of total consumption while the rest of the domestic needs is covered by gas supply form the European gas market. As a solution to diversification and more secure natural gas supply in Croatia, the construction of a LNG receiving and regasification terminal has been considered. In last two decades various types of the terminal construction have been studied which resulted with the decision to build up a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) as a contemporary Croatian strategic project. In this paper, the LNG project in Croatia will be analysed due to the present situation on European and global gas market.
