Poticanje razvoja Općine Semeljci sredstvima EU fondova
Economic development of Croatia gained an upward trajectory by joining the European Union. Development opportunities opened by the use of EU funds have brought a number of changes to functioning of local selfgovernment. Investments in rural parts of Croatia have become areas of special interest with emphasis on development of agriculture, infrastructure and demography. By investing in rural areas, it is possible to increase quality of life, stimulate economy and employment, and reduce migration of young people. Semeljci Municipality recognized the importance and benefits that EU funds bring. Investments in general development of Semeljci Municipality are visible through conducted analysis of projects financed from EU funds. Results of the analysis, which are the goal of the paper, indicate positive effects of development in various areas of Municipality during the implementation of EU projects in comparison to the previous period. Research also established that progress in Municipality development is evident through a number of infrastructural improvements that have positively affected economic climate of the area and transport connections, but were not enough to influence and reverse negative emigration trend of young people.
