A rare cause of urosepsis – answers
Coloureteric fistulas are extremely rare and even more unusual with right ureteric involvement. Treatment strategies vary from a conservative treatment with ureteral stent placement to radical surgical resection. The fistulous tract between the right ureter and sigmoid colon was confirmed by computed tomography and anterograde pyelography. The patient was first treated with the placement of anterograde JJ stent and then underwent open surgery for the toothpick removal. The puncture site on the colon was closed as well as urether with the JJ stent inside.
