The impact of legislation on website accessibility: Croatian case-study
The potential of using the web as a support for people with disabilities has long been recognized. Given that the population is aging and life expectancy of people with disabilities has increased, it is important to take appropriate measures to ensure that all users have equal access to the digital services provided by the web. The importance of web accessibility has been recognized by many countries around the world, which have legislated how public content must be designed in order to be accessible. This paper provides information on how legislation has affected the accessibility of websites in Croatia. It also compares and discusses the results of the research conducted regarding the accessibility of the selected websites and the Croatian catalogue of websites.
