A yield criterion for modelling plane stress metal elastoplasticity between Tresca and von Mises
A yield criterion is proposed obtained by enhancing the von Mises circle with the harmonic members in polar diagram of the deviatoric plane. The criterion is suitable for modelling of elastoplastic material behaviour in the range between the classical criteria of Tresca and von Mises. Solutions of an illustrative example are presented, obtained by initial and classical continuum tangent stiffness methods in conjuntion with radial stress return. A PC programme for elastoplastic plane stress modelling is presented and used for visualising some of the features of numerical procedure.
