Rezultati WAIS-a-IV kod shizofrenije
The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV) is an individually administered instrument for assessing the intelligence and cognitive areas that represent intellectual functioning. It is often used in the clinical setting, for measuring cognitive and intellectual functioning of different types of psychiatric patients. The aim of this study was to make a cognitive profile of patients with schizophrenia, and to compare their results with a healthy control sample. The sample was made up of 61 persons suffering from schizophrenia and 61 control subjects, who were of comparable gender and age. The subjects completed all 15 WAIS-IV subtests, yielding results for all four indices and the total result – Full Scale IQ. OneWay ANOVA was used to calculate the statistical significance between these two groups. Results showed that patients in comparison with matched control had on average 1 standard deviation lower mean scores for all composites and all subtest scores. Large effect sizes were observed practically on all comparisons. These findings are not completely consistent with previous research. In some of the previous research, the performance on Verbal Comprehension was similar in the patient and control groups.
