The Course of Acquisition of Possessive Pronouns in Croatian

Possessive pronouns are interesting for they show how the system is build up, i.e. how children use different structures to express posessivity. This poster puts into focus the course of the acquisition of possessive pronouns.Possessive pronouns are acquired through various stages until the full and correct system is reached. The three stages show that in Croatian children acquire possessive pronouns &#8220 ; ; indirectly&#8221 ; ; . The reason for the exsistence of intemediate stages in the acquisition of possesive pronouns is the difference in the cognitive and language development, i.e. the notion of posessivity is acquired earlier than the linguistic means to express it.The goal of this poster is to give a detailed description of eary acquisition of the notion of possessivity considering the (1) the children strategy, (2) age, and (3) detailed grammatical and semantical description of possessive pronouns. The data for this poster were collected on a corpus created in a longitudinal study of three Croatian children recorded from the first appearance of pronouns in their language until the age of three.
