This work presents a literature review of the different polymeric systems used for the delivery of medicinal products and describes their mechanism of action. Non-toxic, biodegradable and biocompatible polymers have great importance in the delivery of drugs. The main role of the polymer is to protect the drug form the physiological environment during transmission to the target site and improve its stability when releasing. Delivery of the drug to a specific place enables the recognition and reacting to physiological changes in the human body. Biodegradable polymers are widely used in the delivery of drugs because they can be decomposed into non-toxic monomers in the body. The synthesis of new polymer combinations in the future will expand the scope of new drug delivery systems.
