Il corredo scultoreo della chiesa parrocchiale di Santa Lucia a Vascon: proposte per Alvise Tagliapietra e Antonio Gai
Vascon, a small hamlet of the town of Carbonera in the province of Treviso, is home to a parish church dedicated to Saint Lucy. Its facade features three niches with stone statues representing Faith, Saint Lucy adn Hope that are here attributed to Alvise Tagliapietra (1670- 1747) bases on their similarities with numerous works of his vast production. The marble high altar, isolated in the presbytery of the parish church of Santa Lucia, could date from around 1750 when the works for the sanctuary were completed. Chronology and stylistic analysis sugest the altar could be attributed to Carlo Tagliapietra (1703-?). Although the works by Alvise and Carlo Tagliapietra constitute an important addition to the modest sculptural ensemble of Vascon, the artistic highpoints of the parish church are the monumental statues of Saint John the Baptist and Saint Sebastian by the tabernacle on the high altar. Their stylistic features and their sculptural quality, unequivocally indicate famous sculptor Antonio Gai (1686-1769) as their author.
