Gabriello Puliti (ca.1580-1642/3): francescano, compositore, "Accademico armonico detto l'Allergro"
Gabrillo Puliti (Montepulciano, around 1580 - Trieste?, 1642/43), a Conventual Franciscan, maestro di cappella, organist, lutenist and player of other instruments, was a very prolific composer, and an active member of the musical and cultural life of Istria. The first chapter paints of full picture of Puliti's participation in life of his religious community, the community of Conventual Franciscans. The second chapter provides the most thorough analysis to date of a fairly complex bibliography of collections of Puliti's printed compositions. The subsequent chapter (Excursus), alongside referring to the already researched individual relationships Puliti had with the Istrian intellectual circles, particularly with contemporary poets, also highlights the autograph and printed sources wich have so far hardly been used. The authors of the present volume are Ljudevit Anton Maračić, a distinguished specialist in the history of church in Istria, particularly the history of the Croatian Conventual Franciscan Province of St Jerome, and Ennio Stipčević, a renowned authority on Croatian Renaissance and Baroque music and Italian-Croatian music and cultural connections.
