Strength development of calcium aluminate cement with slag
Calcium aluminate cement is used for various applications, in building chemistry, refractory and sewer rehabilitation industry, but its use for structural applications is limited because of the conversion process and the limited amount of raw material for production. The addition of Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) can inhibit conversion process and prevent a significant decrease in compressive strength. Moreover, the use of slag as a cement substitute has positive impact on the CO2 footprint for the cement industry. The aim of this paper is to present the influence of different types of GGBS from their chemical compositions on the mechanical properties of calcium aluminate cement mortar.
