Risk Management Modeling for Increasing the Reliability
Process equipment and plant maintenance problems are complex in their nature in oil refinery business, since the effective maintenance needs to ensure reliability and availability of the plant. A lot of maintenance strategies have been development during last few decades. Reliability centered maintenance has been one of most recent strategies in maintenance around the word. Reliability centered maintenance (RCM) analysis is a structured maintenance technology to optimize maintenance strategy for each component of the system. RCM is originated in the airline industry in the 1960s as systematic process for implementation of maintenance strategies like reactive, preventive, condition-based and proactive maintenance. It provides a structured and practical approach for arriving at an acceptable maintenance strategy for each component each a given system. Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is the key step of RCM.
