Hungary and Other Emerging EU Countries in the Financial Storm: From Minor Turbulences to a Global Hurricane, by J. Kiraly
Many authors have studied global financial crisis impact on the economic systems of the western economies, but rarely and sporadically how did it affect emerging EU countries from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Julia Kiraly’s book provides systematic account of the crisis and comprehensively explores specific impacts on CEE. The book focuses on Hungary, where the author had a valuable insider's experience as a Deputy Governor of the Hungarian Central Bank. Analysis also extends to other former socialist countries that joined the EU in 2004 and 2007. A distinctive feature of the book and important contribution to the field lies in comparative analytical perspective on the global financial crisis’ effects, policy responses and crisis management in CEE.
