Natural Frequencies of a Simple 3D Printed Lattice Structure
The paper deals with the modal analysis of a sample with a simple lattice structure created by the multiplication of a simple Body Centered Cubic cell in all three directions. Five samples (of the same type) were produced from ABS material by means of 3D printing technology employing the FDM technique. Natural frequencies in the range up to 750 Hz were experimentally investigated under harmonic excitation of a linear viscously damped system with single-degree-of-freedom that allows evaluating the vibration damping properties characterized by the displacement transmissibility. The first five natural modes and frequencies in the range up to 1500 Hz were evaluated by numerical analysis in PTC Creo 7 software. By comparing the first natural frequencies obtained by the numerical and experimental approaches, it was possible to state a relatively high agreement between the values. The acquired knowledge will form the basis for further studies and analyzes of real components intended for their application in practice.
