On the declension of Croatian first names in Mediaeval Latin texts
The majority of the earliest attestations of the Croatian language documented within the DOCINEC project are proper names – first names, family names, and place names. The corpus consists of Mediaeval documents from the 9th – 13th century, and the majority of these documents are written in Latin. Based on this material, this paper analyses Croatian Mediaeval names from the aspect of their morphological adaptation to Latin. The names are categorized according to Croatian name type and according to Latin declension. Uninflected forms are categorized separately. The goal of this paper is to identify regularities in the distribution of inflection types.
