Neptune Software Research and Development Project
The aim of the project is to develop a software tool which can be usable by any Saipem branch for the estimation of weather stand-by at different probability level during any sequence of off-shore operations starting at any time during the year. Hence the software tool shall be flexible enough to take into account requirements of the various vessel operators and have a user friendly interface which allows a simple use. The new weather stand by software shall be able to assess the weather stand-by following two different approaches: • Meteocean data operative limits based ; • Vessel motion operative limit based ; Till today no commercial software exists with the same characteristics. The possible economic impact that a correct weather stand-by evaluation can have starting from the bid phase until the project execution, bring the need to develop a fit for purpose in-house customized software. Two main competencies are requested to develop the new tool to be effective and applicable: • Deep technical knowledge of offshore operations phase and engineering tools to be applied • Software architecture understanding with the main goal to produce a stable and usable informatics tool ; This research and development project is condocted with an aim to unify and systemize knowledge and experience of all Saipem centres of excellence by producing comprehensive software application for Weather Standby Assessment.
