Implementing 5s Methodology in a Real-Life Production and Business System
Implementing 5S methodology, a building block of Lean Management, in production systems is a great challenge for organizations in manufacturing and service industries. The success of 5S projects, as explored through this example of a medium-sized manufacturing company, hinges on key factors: management support, a good implementation and consulting team, effective and efficient management of 5S activities with application of digital technologies. The results of a one-year 5S implementation project in the observed case are synergy effects in workplace optimization and work space reorganization. These are the first steps in the Lean digital transformation of the business system and retaining competitive advantage in the market.
