European Research Project Schools@Concerts: Starting Point, Results and Perspectives
In European music education, setting cooperation projects between concert hosts and schools is nowadays frequent. Live music experiences as an addition to music education in regular class can expand the students’ music competencies and form the new music audience. Based on these premises, Schools@Concerts research project was conducted in eight countries in 2018 and 2019. The purpose of this paper is to show the particularities of individual cases and the main results from the students’, teachers’ and concert hosts’ view regarding the pre-concert, concert and post- concert experience. A high percentage of students appreciated the live music event, enjoyed the atmosphere, and learned more about classical music and its environment. Their teachers and concert hosts were also satisfied with the experience. Therefore, this kind of experience should be promoted to a greater extent, linking schools and cultural institution for a better music education.
