Vessel’s structure fabrication process measurement – a dry-docking case
This paper describes the newbuilding dry-docking performance measurement model as a part of final ves-sel’s structure fabrication which includes the corrosion protection for the five years service period. By the completion of the shipbuilding process, vessel is subjected for dry-docking. The dry-docking performance measurement is complex task for management due to large amount of data produced during the dry- docking project. The efficiency is measured using Data Envelopment Analysis which is a non- parametric method us-ing homogenous quantitative data set with multiple inputs and outputs recorded from the completed dry-dockings. The purpose of this research is to determine and rank the best practice dry-docking examples and to determine possible sources of inefficiency on the data set covering twenty-nine dry-docked vessels. The reference sets and sources of inefficiency recognition with improvements propositions were provided for the studied vessels. Further research could lead to combining Data Envelopment Analysis with other Multi Cri-teria Decision Methods.
