Diamondoids – structures, properties and applications

Diamondoids are natural hydrogen-terminated diamond-like molecules consisting of face-fused adamantane cages. They possess exceptional properties like great thermodynamic stability, unique optical properties and bio- compatibility. Due to these properties they can find uses in many fields such as medicine, material science and nanotechnology. Diamondoids have great capability for derivatization which is a necessary step for their application.
