Numerical simulation of necking process
A numerical analysis of necking process is presented. Fundamentals of continuum mechanics necessary for numerical procedure are briefly addressed. Based on such formulation, constitutive theory suitable for finite plastic strains is described. Essence of constitutive theory is hyperelastic formulation with multiplicative decomposition of deformation gradient into elastic and plastic part. Numerical solution involves finite element method, based on mixed interpolations. Efficiency of proposed procedure is provided by an example. Finally, basic results are summarized and directions for future work are given.
