History of Journalism in the Croatian Lands from the Beginnings until the Croatian National Revival
The article surveys the history of publishing in the Croatian territories from its beginnings, i. e., the 17th century, up to the Croatian National Revival. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of periodicals, form calendars to the emergence of the first Croatian newspaper in the Croatian language. This development is shown to have been influenced, on the one hand, by the political circumstances in the Croatian territories from the 17th to the 19th centuries, and on the other, by the more general, trans-European cultural trends from the Enlightenment to Romanticism.
