Croatia: from the Inequality Behind the Mask of “Brotherhood and Unity” to the Union of Democracy and Equality and the Croats in the 20th Century and after
The chapter provides an overview of the historical development of Croatia in the 'short' 20th century, from the entry into the first Yugoslav state to Croatia's independence and entry into the European Union. The main problems that marked this demanding period were highlighted. The inequality of the Croatian people in both Yugoslav states and the trauma of the Second World War marked by the civil war and the conflict of two totalitarian ideologies and regimes on Croatian soil should be emphasized. Croatian independence was also a complex process marked by the Homeland War, ie the aggression of the Communist Yugoslav People's Army and Serbia and Montenegro on Croatia with the aim of destroying it and creating a Greater Serbia.
