Damping Identification Using Extended Morlet-Wave Method from High-Speed Video Data
Optical methods using high-speed cameras open new possibilities for high-density and contact-less measurement of displacement. On the contrary, displacements measured in such way are typically very noisy which makes identifications of modal parameters challenging. Damping is typically the most demanding modal parameter to identify, especially for the higher natural frequencies. Morlet-Wave method, due to its resistance to noise, is a good choice to meet such a demanding signals. Extended version of the Morlet-Wave method is discussed here and its application on the experimental data from high-speed camera. Identification is tested on experimental data, obtained from the video of the free response of the beam, recorded using high-speed camera.
