Weltkunst and Weltliteratur – the constitution and possibilities of contemporary world literature
Following the notion of Weltkunst, which was theoretically developed by the German sociologist Rudolf Stichweh, the paper would try to apply the guidelines that Stichweh attributes to the contemporary world art to the field of literature. Examining the features and characteristics of individual literary works within the national framework of a particular country, in this case Germany, the paper would address the circumstances of the origin and transition of these works from the original national literary field to the field of world literature, to support the assumption that this transgression occurs precisely because the works in question possess features which are typical for Stichweh’s contemporary world art.
