Adaptive Control Scheme Based on Hybrid Adaptation of Lead-lag Compensator Parameters

This paper presents a method of adaptation achieved by adding a lead-lag compensator to a principal controller and by adapting parameters of the lead-lag compensator rather than the parameters of the principal controller. The parameters, gain and lead time constant, are adapted by using an integral criterion and a sensitivity model derived at first for the second order reference model and then applied to the high-order systems of similar dynamic characteristics. A proposed hybrid adaptation algorithm has been tested in the angular speed control loop of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive, and the simulation results confirmed its effectiveness in spite of its simplicity.
