The role of diagnostic business analysis in the process of integrated risk management
The chosen strategy within the process of strategic management determines the functioning of the firm in such a manner that it directs the design, development and exploitation of the firm’s potential for success. Therefore, in the process of risk management, it is necessary to perform a thorough diagnosis of the current situation, position and activities of a firm, and then determine the direction of its future development. This chapter provides a thorough overview of business analysis and diagnosis tools, i.e., different methods and models often used to analyze a company´s external and internal environment, and to assess a company´s business performance. Such an analysis makes it possible to reduce the inherent complexities that can be of prevalent value for the process of enterprise risk management and decision- making in the long run – thus warranting the firm's survival.
