Neuropsychological follow-up of the cognitive functions and personality alterations after cerebral aneurysm surgery
The neuropsychological assessment rvas carried out in 32 patients 4 months and more than a year after the surgery of cercbral artery aneurysm. The results sho*, ed considerable irnpairments of all cognitive functions occuring in the first time-interval observed ; they tend to recover spontaneously during 3 and 3. year postoperatively. The recovery of frontal syndrome proved statistically significant. Two ways of reacting to diminished mental abilitv were confirmed - depression and denial. The results in the first time-interval pointed to moderate neurosis to be transfered to the category of serious neurotic structure in the second testing. The statistically signifrcant differences were found in the way of reactìng to the disease regarding sex.
