Finite element modelling of creep phenomenon of different materials
There are two the most important requests in any structural design: optimal design and lifetime assessment of considered structure. In that way the term design can not be limited to the detailed calculations of structure properties according to the unlimited lifetime. Because optimal design has to include both structural and economic optimization, design life according to the purpose of the structure as well as environment conditions have to be considered. A large number of structures or their members are subjected to the various loads and environment conditions. If the considered structure is subjected to the load at elevated temperature then design strains come in creep area. The paper is focused on a general theory which is based on numerical procedure and which provides the modelling of creep process. This general numerical procedure is mechanical sublayer method which using finite element technique represents very powerful tool of viscoplasticity theory. Computer program is developed and some examples are presented. On the basis of this procedure and according to the design specifications the required geometrical properties of considered structure can be obtained.
