Optimisation of the roughness of the ground surface by diamond roller dressing

Roughness of ground surface is a design requirement as it influences performance characteristics of machine elements ground during fabrication. Grinding parameters, grinding wheel specification and wheel dressing conditions are technologically important for the realization of the required roughness. The results obtained by examining the influence of the conditions of wheel dressing and grinding parameters on surface roughness are shown in this paper. To reach the demanded roughness is usually not a technological problem, therefore productivity is additionally considered during the optimisation.
