Vaginal Total Hysterectomy in Benign Indications: Hysterectomy Techniques in the Normal-Sized Uterus
Vaginal hysterectomy was introduced already by Langenbeck in 1813 [1], and over the years many different methods were described, such as the Heaney [2], Porges [3], Falk [4], von Theobald [5], Joel-Cohen [6] methods, and the Chicago technique [7], which is a variation of the Heaney method. Each of these methods became the origin of many variations, and in certain hospitals local traditions prevailed.
