Asymptotic analysis of the nonstationary flow of micropolar fluid in a thin curved pipe
We present the model for the nonstationary flow of a micropolar fluid in a thin (or long) curved pipe. [1] We use the Germano's reference system in order to describe the geometry of the pipe. We write the equations in curvilinear coordinates, construct the second-order asymptotic approximation, study the boundary layers in space and justify the model via error estimates. The theory of micropolar fluids was introduced in the 1960's by Eringen [2] in order to describe the microstructure of the fluid and its effect on the flow, which is neglected in the classical Navier- Stokes model. Due to the practical application of the micropolar fluid model u domains including pipes in many different scientific areas of interest, primarily in biomedicine for modeling the blood flow through blood vessels, the presentation will be directed at the mathematical and engineering aspects of the model. 1.
