Functionalisation of polymers into hydrophobic antimicrobial materials,

Polymer materials can be functionalized with different surface treatments in order to achieve active hydrophobic antimicrobial materials. This presentation therefore shows our results in which we modified the process parameters to achieve excellent hydrophobicity of polymer surface. In order to study the interaction between parameters, response surface methodology was applied. The results of the influence of process parameters have shown that by increasing the pressure, concentration of hydrophobic compounds and concentration of dye, water vapor permeability enhanced, while by decreasing garment weight its efficiency was enhanced. In this work, 21.15% better results were achieved. Presented work shows that Design of Experiment is a convivial tool for optimization of textile processing conditions in situation where old and efficient processes of textile finishing need to meet new ecological requirements, so alternative solution need to be found.
