Croatian Corpora as Open Educational Resources for Language Research and Learning

Changes have started with the term of open source software 1 which has brought significant changes into the field of software production. For some period of time, the term was reserved for the information technology (IT) industry but the idea of openness spread to all other fields of human interest, education, science, publishing, etc. In the field of education, especially, language learning there are open systems and tools which offer free access to large language databases and materials called corpora. The main aim of this abstract is to present the three largest Croatian computer corpora that have open access and can be used as open educational resources for language teachers, lecturers, researchers, lexicographers, linguists and students. All conclusions and statements presented in this abstract are based on PhD research and thesis about the influence of computer corpora in learning Croatian as a second and foreign language 2.
