Sustainable development – personal and insular

The paper deals with the possibility of creating a new insular medical tourism offer, which would be primarily intended for middle aged and elderly people who feel the need for change and the search for something new, with the aim of getting out of regular routines and uncon-scious and unhealthy living patterns. Hypertrophy and orientation towards the material and intellectual leads to total emotional and spiritual neglect, an alienation from both oneself and others. In order to live a more fulfilling and healthy life, there are more and more people who feel the need to work on their own awareness and growth. Where and how to offer the integra-tion of different techniques for working on oneself? In natural places free of noise, routine and collective conditioning. The return of the individual to nature is possible in such quiet oases of untouched nature. The programs provide guidance and support by experienced and mature therapists through the formation of small sustainable centres which represent new island communities of people who here find ways to meet such needs. The project at the same time offers the sustainable infrastructure which would make it possible to satisfy the needs for accommodation and food through the construction of dugouts or rock shelters. In accordance with sustainable construction, the use of exclusively renewable energy sources is planned. It is also necessary to be aware of the dangers of popularization and the possibility of transformation into large centres. The goal is not to achieve mass-scale tourism but exclusivity, not in terms of abundance of offer but exactly the opposite - lack of it. "Less is more" is not just an expression in art but also in the ability and beauty of quality living.
