Reliability and Lifecycle of User Network Equipment for Provision of Telecommunication Services

The development of advanced telecommunication technologies means also the development of Telecommunication Services (TS). For the users to be able to use TS, the telecommunication operators need to deliver the user network equipment (UNE), router and digital receiver, which have to be periodically replaced. Depending on the availability, the provision of TS can be realised by means of a coaxial cable, copper pair and optical cable. Regarding the area of UNE maintenance, there is corrective and preventive maintenance, and an important characteristic is the reliability and UNE lifecycle. The paper has analysed the reliability and lifecycle of the telecommunication operator UNE considering the issues of maintenance at several levels. The characteristics of the network equipment for a certain technology have been compared and the usual situation of UNE replacement have been identified.
