Gegenbauer Arrays with Minimum Dynamic Range Ratio and Maximum Beam Efficiency

Antenna arrays based on Gegenbauer polynomials are a generalization of Chebyshev and Legendre arrays. The generalization is characterized by an adjustable polynomial's parameter. This parameter allows the optimum design of Gegenbauer arrays. For a given sidelobe level, the Gegenbauer arrays with minimum beamwidth and maximum directivity have already been developed. In this paper, we present the design of the Gegenbauer arrays with minimum dynamic range ratio and maximum beam efficiency. The former design is based on a simple search, whereas the latter is given in a closed form.
