Climate change and spring migration of European Serin Serinus serinus
Numerous migratory bird species have advanced their spring arrival during the past few decades. These arriving changes could be associated with climate change. The aim of this paper was to examine how timing of European Serin (Serinus serinus) spring migration is related to year and local spring air temperatures. The study was conducted in rural area of village Mokrice, northwestern Croatia. In this study, the European Serin have significantly advanced their first arrival date in the 37-year period eight days. Over the same research period, mean spring air temperature also significantly increased. My results indicate that spring average air temperature had influence on spring migration phenology of the European Serin in northwestern Croatia.
